2. Red-flag checklist
None of these prove a report is fake on their own, but any of them are reasons to ask questions before trusting the document:
- No batch/lot number, or the lot number doesn't match the product you're looking at.
- Generic or unverifiable lab name — "Independent Lab," "Certified Testing Services," or similar with no address, accreditation number, or way to confirm they exist.
- Missing or inconsistent dates — no test date, a date that predates when the product says it was manufactured, or a date in the future.
- No stated test method — a purity number with no indication of HPLC, LC-MS, or any named analytical technique behind it.
- Numbers that don't add up — e.g., a claimed purity of "99.9%+" for a product form where that level is essentially never seen in practice, or numbers that are identical across many different products/lots down to the decimal.
- The PDF's metadata contradicts the visible content — most PDF viewers show a "created" or "modified" date and author in the file's properties; a mismatch against what's shown in the document itself is worth a second look.
- The report can't be independently reproduced — the listed lab has no public contact method and doesn't respond when contacted directly.
3. Check your own COA
